Crystal Lenhart

Raised on cattle ranches on the Montana-Wyoming border, Crystal Lenhart expresses her love for the West in colored-pencil works rendered on sandpaper. The medium and the surface come together under Crystal’s careful hand to achieve a subtlety and life-like texture that animates each piece. Lenhart says, “I see my art as a combination of an innate artistic knowing, fine craftsmanship, and hard work. To create art is a basic essential of life; it’s just part of who I am. If others can also appreciate and relate to my perspective on what I see and feel, that makes it even more worthwhile. I try not to make it more complicated than that.”

Lenhart has no formal art training but has always drawn and studied art. Her emphasis has been on western art as well as commissioned portraiture. She is an international award-winner and has had her work accepted into numerous juried exhibits. She is currently represented by Big Horn Galleries in Cody, WY, and Tubac, AZ and has a growing number of pieces in collections throughout the United States and Canada.

Crystal is an experienced horsewoman, carrying on her family’s western tradition of roping and riding. She and her husband, Terry, live near Sheridan, Wyoming and have raised three sons actively participating in school sports, 4-H, ranch roping, and rodeo.
